Do-it-yourself Hair Mask
There are a lot of different products that one can use for a DIY hair mask. Today, we are going to learn how to make our very own DIY hair mask with Aloe Vera!
Conditioning with Aloe Vera
Now conditioning, I believe is one of the important elements in a hair care routine. However, a lot of you, often complain about the high-cost deep conditioners or their unavailability in your area. Having said that, a homemade hair mask always comes to the rescue and will solve half of your problems.
Today, we are going to focus on a hair mask that will boost up your hair growth naturally and in no time! The heroin today’s DIY hair mask is ‘Aloe Vera’.
A lot of you must be familiar with the many benefits that aloe vera has to provide. It reduces dandruff, prevents itchiness on the scalps, and also restores the dead cells on the scalp.
Steps for DIY Mask
Today, I am going to share how I put this weapon to use along with other ingredients to make our very own DIY hair mask for shiny, healthy, and long hair.
The first thing needed would obviously be the aloe vera. Chop the aloe vera in big chunks and later cut off the spikes for every chunk. As you hold a piece, you can see inside, the aloe vera gel that we will be going to put to use to make our hair mask.
Remove the excess skin and scrape off the entire aloe vera gel. Repeat the procedure for every chunk that was cut. Put all of this extracted gel in a blender or a food processor.
To this, add three tablespoons of 100% pure olive oil. Olive oil plays a very important role in hair growth as it repairs damaged hair, prevents dandruff, fungus or any other scalp issues.
In addition to the olive oil, add one tablespoon of Jamaican castor oil to the hair mask. The one that I prefer to use is by Proclaim. It has Shea butter which helps in smoothing the rough ends. Now that you have all the ingredients in the blender, close the lid and blend it together.
Mix it all up until the mixture is nice and creamy. The mixture formed would contain small pieces of aloe vera that we need to get rid of.
The next step would be to filter all these tiny pieces out. Hence, filter it out by using a nylon/cheesecloth or a strainer. This makes the mask easier to apply. Once this is removed, we squeeze out all the remaining gel.
Now that we have separated the big chunks from the gel mixture, we need to transfer the gel to a bottle or container. It is best to shift the mixture to a bottle that has a nozzle. You could also use the travel-size containers that you can find in your home. And here we have our DIY hair mask!
A lot of people prefer applying the mask before washing them. However, I prefer it another way round as it becomes easier to manage the hair while applying the mask. It is easier to manage and untangle the hair when applied this way.
Before you apply, make sure you shake up the bottle so that all the oils get mixed. Take sections of your hair and apply them to the scalp one by one. Once, you have the mask on your hair, leave it for about 20 to 30 minutes in a plastic shower cap as it helps in retaining the moisture. This mask is sure to make your hair nice, super smooth, and shiny!
Once you apply all the mixture to your hair, just let it sit on your hair for about 20 – 30 minutes, and place a shower cap/ plastic hair cap on your hair. A lot of you may not have a thermal haircare heat cap. However, we can make it work with a blow-dryer since it is a DIY Hair mask.
All you have to do is blow it all around your hair while you have your shower cap on. The heat opens up the hair strands, allowing all the products to penetrate your scalp. Now all you have to do is wait for about an hour for the magic to make happen!
Once the wait is over, remove the shower cap, your hair is going to turn out really shiny and smooth, especially at the top and the ends. It will be super easy to manage and completely untangled!
The next day is even better as the hair smells nice and feels really good and light. To continue seeing results, make sure to use it at least once or twice a week. Regularly applying it makes you see the best results.
Use things on your hair that is going to benefit them and make it grow. This is a super easy DIY hair mask with just aloe vera and a few essential oils. You can also experiment with some avocado and other oils like jojoba oil, castor oil, lavender oil, coconut oil, and even banana!
