Is spending money the only way to have a kick ass weekend? My answer is No! I have some really awesome free ideas for you to do on a ‘No Spend Weekend’.

I have taken up this challenge for an entire month and I must tell you, it has been a crazy learning experience! The ideas that we are soon going to be talking about are tried and tested!

So, don’t worry, take a seat back and let’s get ready for an absolutely fun weekend without spending a penny. Some of these are solo ideas and some can be implemented with your partners or friends.

The Suggestions…

Let’s dive in and talk about the easiest task!

1. Finish the book that you have been trying to read for months.

We often find an excuse to close the book or many of you may have hectic weekdays. So, what are you waiting for on a weekend? Grab that book, find a comfortable spot and you are good to go. Oh! A coffee or tea would be just be an icing on the cake!

2. Researching

This idea might come out as a little odd to some of you. I like to call this activity as the “Wikipedia Deep Dive”. I often find myself getting engaged in digging information about things, events or people I like.

This can be really fun and may also add up to your knowledge. So, what’s a better deal than having fun while being productive at the same time? This is one activity that you can do solo as well as with your friends.

3. Utilize the library

The third idea is a blend of the first two ideas previously mentioned.

If you do not have a book, you can always go to a library and issue a book for free. Use the library space as an opportunity to do more research.

Now let’s talk about few creative ideas.

4. Look up for fun makeup and hair tutorials

Try Youtube and try attempting and experimenting with the makeup products that you already own. It is your weekend; the stage is all yours. Go ahead and recreate a look! You may not succeed every time but you will definitely learn a new technique or a skill.

5. Attempt something that you find on Pinterest.

These two ideas will help you expand your skills and capabilities in different kinds of arts and crafts that we may not usually make our time for. Oh, and I must tell you, art is a great way of expressing yourself which can be an amazing idea after busy weekdays to relieve your stress.

6. Movie Marathon

Have a movie marathon all by yourself or with your friends or your partner. A pro tip- Choose your movie according to the crowd and you all shall have a blast.

7. Call a friend or family member

Keep in touch with close friends or family you haven’t spoken to in a while and update each other with what’s going on in each other’s life or anything that you would like to talk about.

8. Cooking Challenge

Have a fun cooking challenge with the leftover ingredients. If you are alone, you can challenge yourself to try a new dish or If you are with your partner or friends, you can have a cook-off challenge.

9. Spa Day

Have a nice personal spa day at home with the products that you have in your home. Pamper yourself, you deserve it!

10. Cleaning out and organizing your closet.

This can be a fun and a very time-consuming thing to do but the end result will make you feel very accomplished.

11. Rearrange some of the furniture in your home.

If you are really  struggling with wanting to invest in new home decor or go shopping, instead challenge yourself to reimagine your  place in an entirely new light or entirely new way do you don’t necessarily need to go out and buy something. You can try mixing things around and sometimes just that feeling of newness is enough to keep you from feeling like you have to go buy something.

12.  Go hiking, running, biking etc.

Just get out and get a little bit of exercise. I particularly, like to do this because you can explore a new place while you are getting some exercise.

13. Explore the free museums in your town.

So, do your research figure out when and where the free museums are for you. If you are in your “Staying fit” journey and are taking up the No Spend Weekend challenge.

14. Source for free entry to gyms

Find gyms of your fit and try all of those ‘free first classes’ or ‘first week free’ at different gyms around your area. I know that, this can come off as a little cheap but if you have taken up this challenge you got to do, what you got to do.

15. Find free events happening in your community.

You can use Facebook or Eventbrite. Those are two really great options to find events happening around you. This is also a great way of meeting new people and expanding your friend circle.

In Summary

I hope that these 15 ideas, are the ones that you can actually try or they at least ignite some sort of ideas for you on, how you can entertain yourself, while you are going through the challenge.

Contrary to popular belief, it is not always necessary to go out and spend money to have fun, you can just do it at home and try to have fun with whatever stuff you have. It is also extremely therapeutic and helps you to find things about yourself and feel comfortable in your own skin.

There is also a creation or sense of newness in your own home! This is a great way to feel mentally and physically rejuvenated and challenged. It is important to push yourself and challenge your boundaries to constantly keep growing your personal passions.

Finally, it helps you in your own personal development, through this journey I hope you can get to know yourself better while also get better at your hobbies and passions, by just being a better you and knowing who you are!
